Brendon Burnett M.Phty, B.Ex Sci, B.App Sci(HMS/Ed)

Brendon has been working in rehabilitation since 2001 as an exercise physiologist and a Physiotherapist since 2005 after completing his Masters in Physiotherapy. Brendon was the co-founder of Physio Place in 2005 and took over as sole director in 2010, continuing its growth to become the largest physiotherapy clinic in Tweed Heads. Brendon has co-authored the Recovery Guide series of books and DVDs for orthopaedic rehabilitation and continues to work closely with patients as a hands-on physiotherapist. Brendon has a background in sports coaching including swimming, touch football, rugby league, athletics and worked briefly as a physical education teacher.

He focuses strongly on educating patients about their condition or injury and skilling patients to ultimately self-manage by providing a clear program of exercises and stretches. He continues professional development, particularly in the field of manual therapy, deep trigger point needling and intra-muscular stimulation. Brendon has completed Pilates equipment Level 3 training and has worked previously with Cudgen Rugby League, Kingscliff Olympic swimming squad, Palm Beach Currumbin Rugby Union, Tweed Valley Kings Premier League Soccer, Kingscliff Soccer and Bilambil Rugby League players. Brendon has close working relationships with several orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians and local GP’s. He works closely with local athletes, surfers, Olympic and world championship swimmers and has a passion for rehabilitation of the shoulder joint. Brendon is currently contracted with Athletics Australia as physiotherapist for Sally Pearson to assist with her Olympic Games preparation for Rio 2016.

Jaime Close B. Phty, B. Ex Sci

Jaime enjoys a variety of both exercise physiology and physiotherapy work. She has been involved with several sporting teams including:

  • Palm Beach Currumbin Rugby Union
  • Palm Beach Premier League Soccer
  • Cudgen Rugby League

Jaime enjoys a wide variety of post surgical work, return to work programs and exercise rehabilitation. She is highly qualified with extensive professional development in dry needling (acupuncture), soft tissue therapy, and exercise programming and prescription.


Anjana Narsai

Anjana completed her physiotherapy degree in Auckland, New Zealand and graduated in 2007. She has worked in New Zealand and Australia, and has further training in teaching clinical pilates classes, acupuncture and dry needling. She has an interest in women's health physiotherapy completing advanced courses through the Women's Health Training Association including prolapse and stress incontinence, pessary fitting, overactive bladder and urgency, and genitourinary and anorectal pain . Anjana keeps active playing hockey, running and doing yoga.



Kelsie Ford

Kelsie graduated from Bond University with a Bachelor of Sports Science and a Doctor of Physiotherapy. Kelsie has been involved in sport from a young age, representing Queensland in indoor netball and touch football at a regional level for many years.

With a special interest in elite sport, Kelsie has worked with the USA Touch Football teams at the 2015 Touch Football World Cup, the Gold Coast Titans as a physiotherapy intern, and Gold Coast United soccer and Gold Coast Blaze basketball as an assistant to the strength and conditioning coaches. From these experiences, Kelsie is confident in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of acute and chronic presentations; and analysing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for individuals in a variety of sports, ages and competition levels.

Kelsie has performed extensive professional development including Trigger Point Dry Needling and Level 1 and Level 2 Sports Physiotherapy courses.

Kelsie is currently the physiotherapist for the Golden South Jaguars in the State Netball League, and is also a preferred practitioner for Netball Queensland athletes on the Gold Coast. Kelsie also provides physiotherapy services for the SQBD Sharks touch football region at Nationals and State Cup levels.

Scott Johnstone

Scott graduated from Bond University with a Doctor of Physiotherapy degree. Prior to this, he completed a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science at the University of Sydney which provided a strong grounding in exercise prescription, progression and athletic performance.

He has been involved in a research capacity at Surfing Australia’s High Performance Centre and has published research in the area of musculoskeletal shoulder assessment. He has previously worked in acute orthopaedic wards and inpatient rehabilitation at a local hospital.

As a Physiotherapist, Scott has a special interest in the shoulder joint and return to sport/work programs. Outside of work, he can be found surfing or in the gym.


Tom Kirkwood

Tom graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Exercise Science and a Masters of Physiotherapy degree and has a special interest in musculoskeletal and sporting injuries.

Tom has previously provided physiotherapy services in a number of medical centres, working closely with General Practitioners to achieve best outcomes for patients. He has also gained experience working in occupational rehabilitation settings, using his skills in exercise prescription to holistically treat injured workers and ensure timely and safe return to work. Additionally, Tom has also worked with a number of local sporting teams including the gold coast breakers rugby union club.

Tom enjoys surfing, hiking and fishing and has a passion for spinal and lower limb injury rehabilitation.


Todd Nix Todd Nix B.Phty, B.ExSc  

Todd joined Physio Place in 2009 as a physiotherapist and exercise scientist. He enjoys working with all patients, treating a wide variety of injuries/conditons and age groups. He has particular interest in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy along with orthopeadic, post-surgical and exercise rehabilitation.  Todd likes to help his patients achieve their goals through a combination of education, hands-on physiotherapy and exercise prescription. 
Todd has previously been involved with a variety of sports teams including; Palm Beach Currumbin Alleygators Rugby Union, Bilambil Jets Rugby League, Tweed Valley Kings Premier League Soccer, Currumbin Eagles Rugby League, Gold Coast Dolphins Cricket Club, South Queensland Sharks Touch Football, Gold Coast International Rugby Sevens Tournament, Vancouver Ice Hockey League, North Vancouver Snowboarding.
He is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Sports Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine Australia groups. Todd continues professional development and has also completed Level 2 Sports Physiotherapy accreditation and Western Acupuncture/Dry Needling accreditations.

Jared Powell Jared Powell

Jared is a born and bred Gold Coaster. Having completed his undergraduate studies in Exercise Science and Business at Griffith University, Jared went on to do a Doctor of Physiotherapy at Bond University winning the award for clinical excellence.

After graduating, Jared went straight into private practice working at Physio Place. He then sought to expand his clinical skills and expertise and went abroad and worked in London, picking up skills in Clinical Pilates, persistent pain management and elite sport. Whilst in London, Jared worked closely with renowned sports physicians and orthopaedic surgeons looking after players in the English Premier League and English Rugby.

Jared was eventually lured back to Australia and Physio Place in 2016. He now teaches Pilates in addition to seeing patients and has a special interest in hip, shoulder and tendon pain in clients of all ages.


Practice Manager

Kaye Lewis

Kaye leads our practice management team and co-ordinates patient booking, medicare care plans and liase with medical staff at all our local Medical Centres. She is the friendly voice on the end of our phone. A retired gymnast and high jump athlete, Kaye can appreciate athletic injuries and how/when these require consultation with one of our physio’s based on the type and severity of the injury. She enjoys bmx, surfing and has a passion for modified vintage Volkswagens.

Kellie Watson

Kellie is trained in both remedial and sports massage as well as being a member of the Australian Association of Massage Therapists. Kellie also teaches massage at TAFE so why not get a massage from the lady who teaches others how to massage. Health fund rebates may apply!
